Colour magic in Malmö with Viktor Erlandsson

We are captivated by the harmonious blend of fabrics and colours in a newly renovated apartment in Malmö. Yellow meets green, pink harmonizes with red, and the colour choices feel both natural and surprising.

The visionary behind this innovative interior is Viktor Erlandsson, an architect and designer with studios in both Stockholm and Malmö. Viktor runs a design studio under his own name, where the design philosophy centres on creating objects that not only please the eye but also resonate with the soul. He believes in the power of storytelling through design, where every product carries an authentic narrative. This perspective forms the foundation of the studio’s mission to craft timeless objects that transcend trends.

In the heart of Bo01, Västra Hamnen in Malmö, Viktor Erlandsson Studio took on the challenge of transforming a warehouse on Salongsgatan into a refreshed, timeless, and slightly more playful version of itself. The project involved a comprehensive redesign of the building’s interior, originally constructed in 2001, with the goal of creating a welcoming and functional environment that honours its original character while incorporating innovative design elements.

Through close collaboration with the client and meticulous attention to detail, a unique concept was developed that merges traditional materials with contemporary design. Every decision, from the colour palette to the furniture selection, was made with care to ensure a harmonious balance between the old and the new.

In this project, Viktor has infused the space with colour and tactility through his thoughtful use of fabrics. The woolly texture of the bouclé in Torno meets the smooth surface of California, while the sheen of linen and silk threads is artfully balanced with the lustre of synthetic fibres. Here, fabric colour and texture become design elements on par with the red orange joints and staircase.

Salongsgatan now stands as a shining example of how to seamlessly blend the charm of the past with modern design, creating an inspiring environment for both visitors and residents. The project exemplifies Viktor Erlandsson Studio’s ability to look beyond the obvious and deliver solutions that not only appeal aesthetically but also enhance the everyday lives of its users.

We particularly admire the milled-in rails that allow the curtains to extend all the way to the ceiling, contributing to a cohesive and fully integrated interior.
