Our Universe – Astrid x Anki Gneib & Mia Cullin

Stockholm Design Week 5 - 9 September

We will open our showroom and host a new exhibition in our studio with Anki Gneib and Mia Cullin. The couple have been collaborating for several years with different projects. For the first time, they have now joined forces and created a furniture collection together, including wooden latticed spheres - OUR UNIVERSE.

As a complement and contrast to the objects and furniture we will display some of our softest news in wool and linen. With a tactile and sheer structure, almost like veil of clouds, the fabrics will play the role of background singers.

About Astrid Studio

We are inspired by creativity within art, crafts and design and are always impressed by people who has a passion for what they do.

That’s one of the reasons why we love collaborations. We also love the synergy that comes out of combining our fabrics with other materials. Like the shape and material clash with the ceramic sculptures by Mimmi Blomqvist and the soft wooden fragility of Bonnibonne. To mention two of our most recent collaborations.

So, when we got our hands on this studio, we decided to partly dedicate it to exhibitions with people or brands we admire and are in line with our values.

That was what we immediately felt when we met the designer Anki Gneib for the first time in her studio garden a couple of years ago. When we heard about Ankis collaboration with her designer colleague Mia Cullin we understood right away this would be perfect for our studio. The massive sculptural and symmetric shape was a perfect match for our tactile and structured linen sheer.

The exhibition showcases the initial three models and provides insight into the creative process behind. The sculptural furniture features horizontal planes that delicately balance on latticed spheres, offering a captivating interplay between weight and lightness, solidity and layering of planar surfaces.

OUR UNIVERSE is an ongoing project, a collection that will continue to expand as they explore new expressions and materials in their work.

The exhibition also showcases the photographic interpretation Beyond

the Universe by the artist collective Deadline Art with Annica Thomsson, Eirik V Johnsen och Kristian Pohl.
